Stroll
through or sit quiety and observe a variety of the tropical north’s
bird species including the beautiful ecalectus parrot, torrisean
pigeons
and gouldian finches.
The aviary
is a mixed emersion exhibit enabling viewing of Bearded Dragons
and Major Skinks basking in the sun.

The Cassowary
plays a significant roll in the dispersal of rainforest seeds in
Australia’s tropical rainforests. Learn about
these magnificent endangered rainforest birds and watch them devour
tropical fruit - whole! There are approximately 1200 Southern Cassowaries
remaining in the Wet Tropics region. Hartley’s
maintains a rehabilitation facility for sick and injured birds.

Waterbirds
such as egrets, herons, darters and ducks are attracted to the
permanent water features at Hartley’s.
The venue
offers excellent birdwatching opportunities, particularly during
the early mornings
and late afternoons.
