TURTLES & FISH

Australia’s four types of freshwater turtles are usually called tortoises to distinguish them from marine turtles.

There are several species of native tropical fish in our wetlands.
They include: barramundi, tarpon, archerfish and rainbow fish.

WETLAND ECOSYSTEM

Wetlands are part of a food chain which ultimately extends beyond the wetland area itself. They include lakes, rivers, dams, swamps, flood plains, lagoons and billabongs. Wetlands provide a food source for birds, fish, crocodiles, turtles and smaller life such as worms, shellfish, shrimps and yabbies.
